Course Overview

The VTCT Level 3 Education and Training course replaces the PTTLS qualification of the same name. It certifies you to teach at a nationally accredited standard, as well as meeting the standard required by awarding and accrediting bodies to create, deliver and accredit your own hair or beauty courses and be insured to provide training. So if you want to run your own courses through private education in the further education sector – this course will get you there.

Upon completion of the VTCT Level 3 Education and Training course, you’ll be able to find employment as an educator in the private training sector or a teacher in further education. Interested in teaching at RJL Education? Check out our careers page for the latest openings!

  • You must hold a minimum level 3 qualification in your chosen sector to teach, whether it be hairdressing, barbering, nails or beauty therapy
  • This course involves one day per week from 10am – 2pm at our training centre for 12 weeks
  • Hotel accommodation available at low rates

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Understanding assessment in education

You’ll also be guided on how to build a portfolio of evidence for both internal and external assessors.

How the course is assessed

Info required RJL Education will assess on completion of each unit and internally quality assure (IQA) the overall work. After the IQA has marked it satisfactory, our VTCT EQA will assess the IQA’s observations.

Entry requirements

You must be age 19 and above, hold an NVQ Level 3, and have completed a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in your chosen discipline.

What’s next?

You may find employment quickly in a private training sector or as an educator in further education within your specialist subject. On average, you could earn £30,000-£50,000 a year working in the private sector, and around £25,000-£30,000 in further education.

Alternatively, you can continue your training in internal verification by studying a Level 4 VTCT Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice or undertake a Certificate in Higher Education or a PGCE with a University.

Yes. Our Level 2 courses are designed for those who are just beginning their career. With us, you can learn critical foundational skills that will help you to progress later down the line.
